Producer Description
Altemasi, one of the finest TRENTODOC wines, is a Classic Method sparkling wine made from grapes grown in the Trentino region of Italy. The tiny bubbles produced using Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes seem to give this wine its ability to draw out time itself. Thanks to not less than 36 months in contact with the lees, this is one of the finest and most elegant sparkling wines in our range. From the award-winning Altemasi GRAAL Reserve to the fruity, delicious Rose9.Designed and built exclusively to produce Metodo Classico TRENTODOC and Metodo Charmat sparkling wines, the cellar is a single, high-tech, highly functional structure. It was built in 1993, on four levels: the lowest level underground is set aside for the ageing of TRENTODOC sparkling wines; all further processing is done on the floor above it: riddling and disgorging, while an adjacent area houses the pressurized tanks for the production of Charmat method sparkling wine. The bottling and packaging lines are located on the ground floor. The TRENTODOC Institute is an association of 40 producers of Metodo Classico sparkling wine in Trentino. The tradition of Metodo Classico production in Trentino began in 1902 with Giulio Ferrari. Returning from France with a selection of Chardonnay vines, he introduced the French traditional method of sparkling wines in his land of origin. The Trento DOC Metodo Classico was the first one officially recognized in Italy and the second in the world after Champagne.
