The first batch of Booker’s® Bourbon in the 2019 collection is called “Teresa’s Batch,” named for Teresa Wittemer, a beloved employee here at Beam for over 30 years in our Quality Control Department. This batch is made up of barrels from three production dates aged in nine different locations within four warehouses. The breakdown of the barrel storage is as follows:
2% came from the 2nd floor of 7-story warehouse 5
1% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse 5
10% came from the 6th floor of 9-story warehouse D
3% came from the 4th floor of 9-story warehouse E
25% came from the 5th floor of 9-story warehouse E
25% came from the 6th floor of 9-story warehouse E
28% came from the 5th floor of 9-story warehouse J
3% came from the 6th floor of 9-story warehouse J
3% came from the 8th floor of 9-story warehouse J
Getting the tasting notes for this batch from Teresa herself was important to me. She works with our bourbon daily, and I wanted to get her description of the batch of Booker’s Bourbon that bears her name. I have to say, she did a terrific job describing the characteristics of this batch: “The nose is sweet with some hints of brown sugar and light oak, along with the vanilla that is characteristic of Booker’s Bourbon. The taste is unique, yet still unmistakably Booker’s Bourbon with a pleasant and warm finish, both sweet and spicy.”
