Damiana has historically been used as an aphrodisiac in Mexico, some bartenders would classify the standalone damiana liquor in the digestif category, maybe even apothecary. Mezcal is something Mexico still crafts with absolute passion and is generally produced in much smaller quantities. Since true artisanal Mezcal is hand crafted as described and unlike other industrialized spirits which place emphasis predominantly on high yields compromising quality by utilizing means and methods which have no soul or spirit; stripping away the very essence of what defines Mexico.
