Description
The wine is pale pink in color. Notes of small wild berries mingle on the nose with a hint of juniper. This spiciness lends weight to the liveliness on the palate reminiscent of exotic citrus fruits, creating a crisp, harmonious and refreshing ensemble. Spice lingers on the palate for a full and round finish.
Producer Description
Standing above the village of Flassans-sur-Isole, in the heart of the hills of the Var, the Commanderie de Peyrassol was founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar. This great expanse of fertile soil was a popular staging post and a place of rest for large numbers of pilgrims setting off for the Holy Land. As one of the jewels of Provence, the domaine has always maintained its agricultural and winegrowing traditions.Located in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, the Commanderie de Peyrassol is a carefully maintained area of 950 hectares which includes 93 hectares of vines. Here, all the elements have come together to create a great terroir. Thanks to the diversity of its varieties, its varied exposure and its clay and limestone soils which are ideal for wine growing, the domaine produces three colours of authentically Provene7al wines of great elegance. If the reputation of the Commanderie de Peyrassol has endured across the centuries, this is largely due to the quality of its terroir and the care bestowed on it by those who work there. Protected from the humidity of the wind from the sea, the domaine enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Set out on terraces at an elevation of up to 330 metres, the vines benefit from an ideal temperature range between daytime and night, ensuring a harmonious ripening of the fruit. In these clay and limestone soils with a heavy gravel content, dating from the Triassic, a mix of more than 10 varieties contributes to the complexity of the resulting blends. Planted in locations which ensure they derive the maximum benefit from their environment, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Tibouren, Merlot Mourve8dre and Carignan give superb results for the reds, while Se9millon, Sauvignon, Clairette, Viognier and Muscat do the same for the whites.
