Producer Description
When he arrived in Briones, Miguel Angel de Gregorio discovered a unique terroir, a terroir that enabled him to make the wines he had always dreamed about. Little by little, the soil began to reveal its own special features and Miguel Angel started interpreting them until he reached a point of mutual understanding that is a key part of the success of the wines from Finca Allende.Situated in Briones, in the north-west end of La Rioja Alta, the Finca Allende vineyards are located on hills facing north, north-east and north-west that are caressed and enhanced by winds from the Atlantic Ocean. The singularities of its terroir, orientation, climate and the different continental, Mediterranean and Atlantic influences combine to enable the growth of a supreme grape that manifests its potential in most excellent fashion in Allende wine.Situated in La Rioja Alta, on a hill that stands 80 metres above the surrounding countryside, Briones appears silhouetted against the sky, so reflecting the importance of the terroir on which it was built, the importance of a terroir that allows us to get closer to heaven.Since 1986, when Miguel Angel de Gregorio discovered the excellent qualities of this land, the interaction between the two, between man and land, between intelligence and potential, has enabled us to give our wines a unique personality of the very highest level. We work in line with this philosophy day by day with a deep respect for the environment and our vines, respect for what nature has to offer us and admiration for the uniqueness of our vineyards. We cultivate our fields without using any kind of herbicide or synthetic chemicals, so reducing carbon emissions. We protect and care for our vines by returning to traditional methods, doing many jobs manually with the help of draught animals. We believe in a sustainable form of grape-farming that is based on the firm conviction that the essence of our image lies in our respect for the exceptional nature of our vineyards. The expressiveness of their soils. The respect for their uniqueness. The uniqueness of a style, the Allende style.
