With wood at the heart of The Famous Grouse production process, the Cask Series is a natural evolution of Scotland’s favorite whisky. It provides a completely new opportunity to explore the influence different casks have on the flavor of the classic blend. Our original blend rested in specially selected port seasoned casks offers flavors of mellow fruit cake and soft oak notes with a rich, smooth finish.

In 1896, William’s nephew, Matthew Gloag (1850-1912), took over the family business. He created a new blended brand called The Grouse in 1896. At this time the company was still operating from his grandfather’s premises but had expanded to occupy adjacent shops, jointly covering 20 to 26 Atholl Street.
In 1905 the limited company of Matthew Gloag & son was formed and the Grouse was renamed ‘The Famous Grouse’ in the same year due to its burgeoning reputation as a quality Scotch brand. As if to emphasise the family connection, it was Matthew III’s daughter, Phillippa, who drew the very first, and now famous, red grouse that adorns every bottle.
Founded with the simple vision to create the best quality blended whisky, we’re now known across the globe for just that.
Scotland’s favourite Whisky for over 40 years.
The same obsession with quality remains from our founder’s days but the Famous story of our Grouse continues onwards with many more stories to tell and whiskies to blend.
