Producer Description
There is something special-extraordinary, in fact-about making wine from estate vineyards. It means we painstakingly watch over our own vines, through wind and frost and scorching sun. It means we patiently farm each block by hand. It means we make every decision-day after day, vintage after vintage-to guide our fruit toward the pinnacle of its potential. And because our wines are made from only the finest blocks on our sustainably farmed vineyards throughout Napa Valley, every bottle captures our family’s rich heritage in this unequaled region.Like its namesake, Mary’s Vineyard is full of personality. Nestled at the northern end of Napa Valley in the Calistoga appellation, this vineyard’s ample sun exposure and moderately fertile soils produce Sauvignon Blanc with ripe, exotic flavors and a crisp, palate-cleansing acidity. Named for Mario Trinchero’s wife, this landmark site was the first vineyard purchased by our family.Named for our pioneering founder Mario Trinchero, this rare jewel of a site surrounds our winery in St. Helena, along a narrow stretch of the valley floor formed by river erosion. A northwest exposure, coupled with a mix of gravel, loam and alluvial soils, makes Mario’s Vineyard ideally suited for opulent Cabernet Sauvignon with impressive structure and velvety tannins. With its nostalgic nod to our family’s roots in New York City, our Central Park West Vineyard rests on the valley floor at the southern end of the St. Helena appellation. This 22-acre site, with its ample sunshine and deep loamy and alluvial soils, is perfectly suited for growing classic red Bordeaux varieties. Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, this vineyard produces decadent wines with layer upon layer of complex flavor.Soaring high above the valley floor to 1,500 feet in the Mt. Veeder appellation, our 13-acre Cloud’s Nest Vineyard is incredibly steep with gravelly soil. The vines here struggle to survive in the rugged, unforgiving terrain of the Mayacamas Mountains, resulting in wines with exceptional complexity and intensity. A cool, eastern exposure gives the grapes more time on the vine to develop the region’s signature bold, luscious flavors. The Atlas Peak region, Napa Valley’s highest appellation, is home to our Haystack Vineyard, an extremely rocky site, where struggling vines create small, intensely concentrated berry clusters. Resting at 1,500 feet in the Vaca Mountains, this picturesque, 21.54-acre vineyard produces expressive red wines with complex layers of flavor.A confluence of morning fog, abundant afternoon sunshine and breezes from nearby San Pablo Bay allows the grapes at Vera’s Vineyard to ripen gradually and evenly, resulting in deeply concentrated flavors.
